How to find ID of a VM and force shutdown the VM

Sometimes Hyper-V virtual machine is frozen and cannot be shutdown through Hyper-V manager console. All shutdown, power off, reset option do not work. To shutdown VM in such state you need to find its ID and the end task for the correct vmwp.exe process.

As per below, this Hyper-V is running two virtual machines. We can find their name and IDs. If we want to force shutdown Martserver, we need to kill the process with corresponding user name matching the VMId of the Martserver

#powershellGet-VM | Select VMName, VMId
